Purpose
This fund was the brain child of past NTSPP Treasurer Rege Stewart MD, and has been set up first of all to honor both deceased and living area psychiatrists. The fund is used for three purposes:
1. To fund events benefiting the mentally ill and their families which may be educational or charitable.
2. To fund the educational development of residents and medical students, costs of invited guests, primarily psychiatry residents, fellows, medical students and occasionally community leaders at our monthly dinner program meetings AND/OR
3. To sponsor the NTSPP public service website www.mhaar.org which seeks ultimately to list all legitimate Mental Health And Addiction Resources in the 12-county area.
We view the recruitment of residents and medical students as an integral part of our mission, yet since we are totally self supporting we need to raise extra money to subsidize these activities.
We view the chance to visit with and achieve solidarity with community leaders interested in our patients and their families as valuable indeed.
Our public service website listing all Mental Health And Addiction Resources (MHAAR) in the 12-county NTSPP area is a pilot project with the Halliburton Foundation now in development and near completion. We thank the Dallas Area Women Psychiatrists for a $2,000 contribution to MHAAR.
In addition to recognizing both donors and honorees in the newsletter and on the website, the honored physician or the family of the remembered physician will also be notified of the donation.
