Child Psychiatrist Consultation at Parkland Community Oriented Primary Care Clinics (COPC) have recently received a grant from the state to pilot a Pediatric Integrated Mental Health model at 5 of our primary care clinics. This model places mental health services in pediatric clinics. The model includes consultation with a Child Psychiatrist for a few hours a week. 

The project which is slated for the next 2 years. We are in need of a child psychiatrist to consult with our pediatricians and with our child mental health therapists. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

(SUPPORT)

 COPC has been invited to participate in the SUPPORT project funded by the Frew settlement. The funds are targeted at improving mental health services to low income children who are served by the Medicaid program. Funds are provided to support pediatric behaviorists co-located in Pediatric clinics with consultation from a Child Psychiatrist. The Child Psychiatrist will consult with mental health therapists and primary care physicians on the more complex mental health conditions. The overall goal is to integrate mental health in primary care with a focus on mental health assessments and brief psychotherapy interventions for a wide range of child behavioral and emotional problems.

The University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio and Texas Tech are the oversight organizations. Five (5) COPC Pediatric modules will be participating (deHaro, East Dallas, Garland, Oak West and Southeast). Dr. Donna Persaud, COPC Pediatric Medical Director and Dr. Jacqui Stephen, Director of Behavioral Health – COPC, will be taking the lead. The program is funded for 2 years with the possibility of continued funding either with grant funds or a change in billing rules so that master’s level clinicians can be reimbursed for services.

Psych ER work at PMH or GO:  08.26.08

Psychiatric ER at Parkland Memorial Hospital and Green Oaks Hospital have Psychiatric Emergency Services and need psychiatrists for shifts, especially in the evening and on week-ends. Malpractice insurance is covered at either hospital. An understanding or interest in community mental health and crisis stabilization are important at either hospital. Work in the Parkland Psychiatric ER would involve a clinical faculty appointment at UT Southwestern (and therefore it is easier if you are already on faculty there, but we do have the ability to do additional appointments. Pay is roughly $100 per hour, and $120 per hour for graveyard shifts. Adapt of Texas  08.26.08

Adapt of Texas is seeking adult and child psychiatrists for part time work at our Kaufman clinic, Waxahachie clinic and/or Corsicana clinic. These are contract positions and require the physician to provide their own malpractice coverage. Adapt of Texas is a Northstar provider.
