A big welcome to the counselors and nurses of Ennis, Midlothian, and Waxahachie Independent School Districts who are getting our e-mails on the Ellis County Task Team on Mental Health & Substance Abuse for the first time. It is our hope that they will get involved and that we can help them provided services to the students and parents they serve.
We will be working on solutions to help parents, teachers, ect. in Ellis County that have children and adolescents with mental illness. Even if you work with adults only we need you at this important meeting to help us come up with solutions that will help parents and teachers.
- Anna Melton will announce about a new support group for those that have been afflicted by anything from Assault, Sexual Assault, Abuse, or even those who are the primary support for someone listed above.
- Rich Cameron of Hickory Trail Hospital will talk to us about them partnering with the Jason Foundation a non profit that provides suicide awareness and prevention programming. The WISD counseling staff has been trained in using the foundation’s classroom materials. (5 minutes)
- Cynthia Winters, Team Leader for Adapt of Texas, will talk to us about the mental health services that is available through Adapt for children & adolescents. There child/teen clients also receive casework services in the school. (15 minutes)
- We will divide into four groups and brain storm in each group on how the Ellis County Task Team on Mental Health & Substance Abuse can help solve the top needs of parents with children/adolescents with mental illness.
The Ellis County Task Team is made up of individuals, organizations, law enforcement, school officials, Judges, hospitals, ministers, Ellis County elected officials, attorneys, Ellis County DA staff, service providers, Constables, and any one else that comes in contact with individuals with mental illness. Its goal is to help each other find solutions to better serve those with mental illness and their loved ones. If you have an interest feel free to come to any of our task team meetings.
