Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor Director for Student Mental Health
The Department of Psychiatry is seeking an outstanding individual at the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor level, the academic rank of which will be determined by the qualifications of the candidate. This position will serve as Director of Student Mental Health, and will lead a group of mental health professionals in providing student mental health services and be involved in assessing and treating students with a variety of problems including mood and anxiety disorders, attention deficit disorders, situational/academic problems. Additionally, this position will develop and implement a wellness program for students. This individual will lead a staff of physicians and non-M.D. clinicians.
The candidate’s background should include experience with psychiatric assessment and treatment in young adults, the professional development of medical students, brief psychotherapy, medication management, and wellness lifestyle. Experience in providing student mental health programs in a college counseling center is preferred. The candidate must be board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry and have or be able to obtain a Texas Medical License.
Candidates must demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in writing.
The candidate must have the ability to write procedures, keep standards of practices up to date, and work within the university community. The candidate must be computer literate regarding e-mail usage, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet usage.

The FMC is a tertiary referral center for the entire female population of the Federal Bureau of Prisons for both psychiatric as well as medical treatment, and is located in Ft. Worth, Texas, which is truly an interesting and enjoyable place to live. Our facility is JCAHO accredited, with inpatient and outpatient settings, and consult liaison to the medical floors. The need for psychiatric services is growing rapidly in the Bureau of Prisons and relocation throughout the United States is possible if desired.
